So, for our final assignment of Music Journalism, Year 2, we were required to team up in groups of 5, and were given a month to produce a magazine together. We tried our hardest to create one with a refreshing concept, which, in turn, would win our somewhat, excruciatingly fussy lecturers over.
Band T-shirt is what we came up with, and well, it’s exactly what it says on the tin - a magazine about band t-shirts… amongst other things too, such as the legends behind mesmerising, album artwork masterpieces, including Joy Division’s ‘Closer’, just to name a few…

Lykke Li’s acoustic take on ‘Tonight’ off of her 2008 album ‘Youth Novels.’

Introducing the first track to be released from Battles’ third album ‘Gloss Drop.’ It’s called ‘Icecream’, and funnily enough, the introduction does sound a lot like the siren song of an icecream van, before it becomes broken, fucked up and entirely distorted.

The track features distinctive vocals from Chillean-born, Cologne-raised, underground pop artist Matias Aguayo. It is an exciting, intriguing insight to what the rest of the album will sound like, to say the least… Ice Cream (Featuring Matias Aguayo) by BATTLES

It’s all about being in the right place, at the right time and being down right, fucking lucky.

It was just a regular club night at The Air Liner, Los Angeles. The likes of Flying Lotus were playing DJ Sets, to name a few. As the night progressed, the atmosphere became entirely electric. Everyone was lost in the immensely deafening bass; moving and grooving along to it however their bodies’ pleased. They appeared to be euphoric, perhaps due to having consumed ecstasy and other such drugs. With the state they were in, having Thom Yorke turn up and take over the decks was surely the last thing they expected. However, as surreal, or as much of an hallucination it may have seemed, it was real - it happened. I wasn’t there - I am gutted.

On February 17th, 2011, Stanley Donwood hosted a solo show at Outsiders gallery in London, of which offered a first glimpse of some of the new artwork he’s created for the new Radiohead album, The King Of Limbs.

He described what each of the pieces represent: “Me and Thom were working on these ideas of strange, multi-limbed creatures that are neither malevolent or benevolent, they’re simply there, part of the living spirit of the forest. That’s come through into all of the work.”

Being on record label Tri Angle and having recently lived in Berlin and Gothenberg, Manchester’s Holy Other has been staying true to the gothic, electronica influenced genre ‘witch house.’ He is reponsible for producing three of his own tracks, as well as several remixes and is due to release his first ever EP later this year.

To give you a taste of what to expect on the EP, the song I have posted is Holy Other’s remix of Asobi Seksu’s ‘Trails.’

Update on my previous post.

Thom Yorke, Four Tet, and Burial’s 12” single can now be heard on Youtube. This track is titled ‘Mirror’ and is my favourite of the two.

Via source Pitchfork, the news was shared today that electronica and dubstep artists Four Tet and Burial have teamed up once again, revealing their third team member Thom Yorke.

Together, they have been working on a 12” with Four Tet’s record label Text. The A-side of the record is titled ‘Ego’, while the AA-side is called ‘Mirror.’

Both tracks are due to be aired tonight at 11pm on UK radio station Rinse FM during Four Tet’s session with DJ Floating Points.

The track I have posted is titled ‘Moth’ and is a perfect example of the mind-blowing outcome which can be achieved when Burial and Four Tet work together.

Excellent illustrations of Thom Yorke demonstrating his ‘Lotus Flower’ - designed by Lauren Ribet.

The illustrations have now been printed onto T-shirts which are being sold exclusively on French music merchandise website originalmusicshirt.com.

I feel that the added shipping cost it will inevitably take to own one will be worth it.
